Depicting Gods in wood has been practiced the world over. Some of the most treasured Christian icons from Byzantine times like wooden icons of Aaron, Abraham, Aemilan, Agathe, Augustine, Basil, Barbara, Athenasios, Athena, Apollo and Anne, the Mother of Theotoku are treasured and preserved in different museums in the world to this day.
