Schools that teach wood carving begin with simple patterns for carving till the student learns to carve deftly after further practice. Some basic patterns used for beginners include wooden quilt squares, floral designs, farm animals, fruits, vegetables and assorted patterns in wood. These are simple designs and don’t require precision or extensive detailing and are never multi-layered.
